This comes from a dystopian dream I had a few years back. It took place in the relative near future, when due to widespread environmental degradation, bird populations had all but disappeared, only to be found in heavily guarded sanctuaries. The dream ended with me standing under the massive canopy of this huge tree, looking up seeing the branches filled with birds of
all sorts, each singing its own song.
This tile is made from white stoneware, Standard 181, covered in three layers of Amaco Velvet Jet Black underglaze, and then sgraffito carved, with light embossing of facial features. The tile has been bisqued fired, and is ready for hanging
